The first documented reference
to Great Skua in South Gloucestershire was of one over the
Severn Estuary viewed from the S. Glos
section of Chittening Warth on
May 14th 1973. Great Skua have been reported
in all months. The earliest was noted on
January 3rd 1988 from New Passage, the
latest on December 31st 1983 on Severnside
and the highest count is seven (7) on
January 4th 1998 on Severnside. Severnside
refers to the Severn Estuary including
Chittening Warth, Severn Beach, New Passage,
Northwick Warth and Aust Warth.
First records from other sites
are:
An immature from Oldbury
Power Station on September 24th 1984 and a
juvenile from Littleton Warth on September
22nd 2013. |
