EARLIEST: Two in the Shire Valley, Marshfield on January 1st. LATEST: Two over Cann Brake Wood, North Common on December 29th. HIGHEST COUNT: At least twenty-five (25) in the Shire Valley, Marshfield on two occasions in December.

Four hundred and six bird days! The best months June (62), July (78) and October (55). EARLIEST: One over West Littleton Down, West Littleton on January 7th. LATEST: Singles at Tortworth and Oldland Common on December 17th. HIGHEST COUNT: Twelve near Hawkesbury Upton on December 20th.

One hundred and thirty-four bird days with birds in all months except January! The best months March (26), April (24) and June (34). EARLIEST: One from Riding Barn Hill, Wick on February 7th. LATEST: One over Littleton Warth on December 20th. HIGHEST COUNT: Six over a working tractor north of Bagstone in the Stidcote Lane area on June 30th.

Two-hundred and eleven bird days with birds in all months except February and August. The best months May (85), April (41), March (35), June (25) and July (12). EARLIEST: Two from the Oldbury Power Station environs during January. LATEST: One on Chipping Sodbury Common on December 5th. HIGHEST COUNT: Five/ six up river past Severn Beach on March 22nd.

 

2019

Eighty-seven bird days. The best months July (16), May and June (12) with birds in all months except January. EARLIEST: One in the Shire Valley, Marshfield on February 12th. LATEST: One from Marshfield on December 21st. HIGHEST COUNT: Four in the Shire Valley, Marshfield on July 31st.

 

2018

A hundred and thirteen bird days. The best months May (36) and June (25). Birds in all months except December. EARLIEST: One over the ring road at the junction of the A4174/ A420 Kingswood late morning on January 5th. LATEST: One near Severn Beach early afternoon on October 27th. HIGHEST COUNT: Five drifted low north-east over Pilning Wetlands, New Passage on May 26th.

 

2017

Eighty-one bird days. The best month June (23). Birds in all months except November and December. EARLIEST: One over fields from Down Road, Marshfield on January 1st. LATEST: One over Aust Warth on October 20th. HIGHEST COUNT: At least six over a cut field at Orange End, Inglestone Common at ST: 760 877 on June 26th.

Seventy bird days. The best month May (18). Birds in all months except January. EARLIEST: One near the M4 at Pucklechurch on February 2nd. LATEST: One over Tortworth School, Tortworth around 12:45 on December 23rd. HIGHEST COUNT: Three over Chipping Sodbury Common at 12:30 on July 23rd.

Eighty-one bird days. The best month June (28). EARLIEST: One north over Old Sodbury on February 5th. LATEST: One over Downend Sport Centre, Downend at 10:00 on December 29th. HIGHEST COUNT: Four in the Frome Valley area at Chipping Sodbury around 14:15 on July 1st.

Forty-eight bird days. The best month May (15). EARLIEST: One in the Shire Valley, Marshfield on February 16th. LATEST: One over Goldcrest Way, Severn Beach around 12:30 on December 12th. HIGHEST COUNT: Six/ seven over a field being harvested at Lower Hamswell on May 21st.

Fifty-nine bird days. The best month May (14). EARLIEST: One over Northwick Warth at 11:20 on February 9th. LATEST: One east over Hallen at 14:25 on December 19th. HIGHEST COUNT: Four north over Frampton Cotterell at 14:00 on July 7th.

Thirty-two bird days. The best months March and May (12). EARLIEST: One north from Down Road, Marshfield on March 14th. LATEST: One south-west from New Passage at 13:00 on October 30th. HIGHEST COUNT: Two in March and May.

Sixteen bird days. The best month April (4). EARLIEST: One in the Shire Hill area, Marshfield sometime around mid of February. LATEST: An adult at New Passage on September 29th.

Twenty-eight bird days. The best months March (6), April (6) and May (6). EARLIEST: One over Shepperdine on January 11th. LATEST: One south over farmland just north of Thornbury Castle around 12:45 on December 25th. HIGHEST COUNT: Four high over Overscourt Plantation, Siston on April 10th.

Thirteen bird days. The best month May (5). EARLIEST: An adult north over Rushmead Farm, Marshfield and one at Cadbury Heath on March 15th. LATEST: One north-west over Middledown Road, Marshfield on October 12th.

Sixteen bird days. The best month June (7). EARLIEST: One south around 12:45 just south of Severn Beach over the Terra Nitrogen Works on April 17th. LATEST/ HIGHEST COUNT: Two at Hawkesbury Upton on October 14th.

One flying south-west approximately 300 feet up near Tockington on March 3rd. Salient features noted were the large size, forked tail and wings longer and less rounded than in Buzzard with characteristic light patches on undersides.
