2024 (c.25)

JANUARY: Two were seen in flight low from the south diagonally across Lagoon II, Oldbury Power Station at 08:00 on the 20th; Three were found in fields at the entrance to Oldbury Power Station mid-morning on the 23rd two of which were still present mid-afternoon - one present at the same site on the 26th, two there on the 27th and 30th, three on the 29th and 31st. FEBRUARY: Four were reported in fields north of the M4, south of Codrington around 10:00 on the 2nd; One in fields from New Passage Road on the 6th - 10th. MARCH: Two were located on Littleton Warth on the 11th; Five were seen in flight to the south-west from Severn View Services, Aust and another five were watched from Holm Mead Bridge, Bitton on the 21st. MAY: One was present on Pilning Wetlands, New Passage in the morning on the 1st with the same or another at Severn Beach on the 5th. JUNE: A flock of ten were seen to lift of of Pilning Wetlands and fly high to the north-east at 07:50 on the 17th. OCTOBER: One was seen in flight to the east over Severn Beach on the 12th; One was seen in flight to the south-west over Severn View Services, Aust around 08:30 on the 21st.

 

2023

One was present at Littleton-upon-Severn on April 1st; One was found at Black Rocks, Frampton Cotterell on April 7th; One was present on Pilning Wetlands, New Passage on September 1st; A record count of nine (9) were logged in the Pilning Wetlands/ New Passage area on September 6th; Two were noted from the Severn View Services/ Aust Cliffs area on September 10th; One was noted from the Severn View Services/ Aust Cliffs area on the 14th later relocating to Pilning Wetlands, New Passage; One was found at the east end of Coalpit Heath around ST: 686 798 mid-morning on September 30th before departing towards Rodford/ Nibley; One was seen in flight past Severn View Services, Aust around 09:45 on October 21st  with a repeat performance on the 23rd with one heading south-west over Severn View Services, Aust around 09:00.

 

2022

One in flight north-east past Severn Beach in the evening on May 15th; One was seen in flight low south from the 'sheep fields' public footpath at the rear of Pilning Wetlands, New Passage in the morning on September 5th; One was seen briefly on Pilning Wetlands, New Passage late morning on December 17th before departing to the north. It was subsequently seen at close range as it flew north-east past Oldbury Power Station around mid-day.

 

2021

One over Lyde Green Lake, Lyde Green on April 12th; One north-east past Severn Beach/ New Passage on April 25th; One north-east past New Passage on May 1st; Three were found in fields in and around Oldbury Pill Sluice, Oldbury-on-Severn on October 7th. Increasing to four, three adults and a juvenile from the 8th - 10th the number reached seven (7) on October 11th; Four still present at OPS from October 16th - 19th.

 

2020

Three between New Passage, Northwick Warth and Pilning Wetlands on July 31st; One on Northwick Warth and Pilning Wetlands on September 1st; One on Pilning Wetlands, New Passage on September 22nd; One in the New Passage/ Northwick Warth/ Pilning Wetlands area on October 23rd; One at Littleton-upon-Severn on October 31st; One from the New Passage/ Northwick Warth area on November 1st.

 

2019

One on Pilning Wetlands, New Passage on October 21st - 22nd.

 

2017

One at Toghill Farm, Wick on January 1st was joined by a second with both present until at least March 11th; One on Pilning Wetlands, New Passage on March 25th; One over New Passage on July 20th.

 

2016

One in fields at Toghill Farm, Wick from December 17th - 31st.

 

2012

A juvenile on Northwick Warth on September 9th.

 

1993

A summer adult near Littleton-upon-Severn Brick Pits form April 24th - 27th.
